Job summary

Axle Energy is hiring Software Engineers to build core infrastructure connecting to distributed energy devices and enabling participation in electricity markets. This generalist role spans product-engineering, devops, and data engineering, with ownership of problems, client interaction, and close collaboration with market operators.

We offer a deliberately flat structure, equity in Axle, a competitive base salary, and total compensation ranging from £75k–£200k per year.

About the role

Software Engineers at Axle build the core infrastructure for connecting to distributed energy devices, orchestrating them, and allowing them to participate in electricity markets.

This is a generalist Software Engineering role, encompassing product-engineering, devops, and data engineering. We encourage engineers to own as much of the problem-space as they can: you’ll spend time talking to clients, getting feedback from users, and working closely with market operators.

• Forming a deep understanding of the domain & the business, so you have enough context to execute independently at speed

• Focusing on outcomes, not process, and taking ownership for the end product you ship into the world

• Managing your own time and those of others to adapt to changing scope and deadlines, delivering 80% of the value in 20% of the time

We build in Python + React for the frontend

Everything we build lives in Docker, for minimal cross-platform faff and maximal reproducibility.
Unlimited Claude Code tokens - we are aggressive users and explorers of AI, and encourage everybody to reconsider their workflows regularly
