Job summary

CMTG in the United Kingdom is seeking a Software Engineer to help design, develop, and maintain high-quality software for safety-critical and industrial condition monitoring products. You will work with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into reliable solutions and contribute to system design and technical decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software aligned with product and engineering requirements.
  • Review user stories, specifications, and designs for clarity, feasibility, and technical completeness.
  • Implement features using appropriate engineering principles, tools, methodologies, and agreed standards.
  • Contribute to system design, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.
  • Set up, configure, and maintain development environments, build pipelines, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, well-tested code that meets internal standards and industry best practice.
  • Select and apply suitable technologies, frameworks, and techniques, and maintain systems, tools, and processes supporting the software development lifecycle.
  • Identify technical issues, analyse root causes, and develop timely solutions; improve engineering processes, methodologies, and design patterns.
  • Ensure software meets quality, security, performance, and safety expectations, and document technical information and communicate risks, issues, and recommendations.
  • Take ownership of work in Agile sprints, deliver incrementally, break down work items, estimate effort, and contribute to planning.
  • Collaborate across engineering, product, and supporting functions, working with technical leadership to meet project objectives and business goals.
  • Keep a strong customer focus so solutions meet user and operational needs.
  • Maintain and record Continuing Professional Development, stay current with technologies and industry trends, and apply ethical, safe, and sustainable engineering principles.
