Software Engineer - SC or DV Cleared | Defence Sector

Hybrid - 4 Days/Week Onsite in Gloucestershire

Permanent | £55,000 - £75,000 DOE |

I'm working with a highly regarded technology consultancy delivering advanced software solutions into the UK defence and national security sectors. As they continue to grow their footprint in this space, they're looking to add an experienced Software Engineer to their team.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working across the full software development lifecycle while contributing to mission-critical projects in secure environments. You'll be supporting both internal greenfield projects and defence-focused client work, with a clear emphasis on innovation, quality, and impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy bespoke greenfield software solutions.

• Provide software consultancy and hands-on development across:
• Backend/frontend coding
• Unit, integration, and system testing
• CI/CD workflows and deployment automation
• Diagnostic tooling and support
  

Requirements

Essential:

• Strong experience with at least one of the following:
• JavaScript (Node.js), Python, or another OO language
• Active SC or DV clearance
• If SC-cleared, you must be eligible and willing to undergo DV clearance
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles
• Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
• Comfortable working in highly regulated, secure environments
  

Desirable

• Defence, national security, or government sector experience
• Frontend/UI experience (e.g., React)
• DevOps: Jenkins, Git/GitHub Actions, Bitbucket, Jira, Puppet
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Data storage: MongoDB, SQL, DynamoDB, ElasticDB
• Familiarity with AWS CDK, NiFi
