PLC Software Engineer
Permanent Ellesmere Port Up to GBP60,000 Hybrid

Our client, a leading UK solutions provider in natural gas, petrochemical, biomethane, and decarbonisation, is seeking a PLC Software Engineer to join their manufacturing department on a permanent staff basis in Ellesmere Port.

This full-time role offers standard hours, occasional site visits, and up to two days a week hybrid working.

The role suits a Software Engineer with automation experience or a Control Systems Engineer with strong PLC programming looking to progress as a Software Engineer.

The Role:

  • Develop, test, and fault-find functional automation software.
  • Support commissioning teams to ensure system reliability.
  • Advise and mentor junior Software Engineers.
  • Attend client meetings confidently.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve standards.
  • Assist with process improvement and commissioning support.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years relevant experience (degree or time-served).
  • Proven background in complex automation software systems.
  • Experience with PLC hardware/software (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi).
  • Knowledge of gas analytical and metering systems is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills, organised, and a positive approach.
