We are seeking a Lead Software Developer to join the Leidos National Security & Defence team. This is a new opportunity to work with our expanding team. Your daily tasks will involve developing software, fixing bugs across the full development lifecycle, and responding to various customer queries on multiple products.

Your role involves collaborating with customers to solve complex problems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing mission-focused tools and techniques.
  • Managing requirements and designing technical solutions.
  • Applying knowledge of the latest technologies, including COTS, hardware, software, security, and networking.
  • Conducting system testing, verification, and documentation.
  • Facilitating system integration of hardware and software solutions.
  • Providing technical leadership, supervision, estimation, and progress monitoring.
  • Adhering to project processes and software development practices.

Our Capability Development team specializes in bespoke software for Cyber Security, primarily using C and C++, across multiple platforms including iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Required skills and experiences:

  • Proficiency in C++, Java, or Rust for application and embedded development.
  • Experience with development tools, IDEs, and toolchains.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and environments.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols for peripheral devices.
  • Experience in embedded systems coding, unit testing, and version control (Git).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience in designing and implementing complex solutions, including legacy updates.
  • Familiarity with platform APIs, development environments, and debugging on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android.
  • Commitment to quality assurance practices.
  • Understanding of cryptography, USB communication protocols, wireless protocols like Ultra-Wideband and Bluetooth.
  • Experience with secure government or MoD IT projects is preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields.
  • Membership of BCS or IET is desirable.

Additional considerations:

Applicants must be eligible for DV clearance, be a British citizen, and have resided in the UK for the last 10 years.
