We are excited to announce a permanent opening for a Software Engineer at our state-of-the-art facility in Severn Beach, Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to be at the forefront of software development, as you will be actively involved in every phase of the software development lifecycle. Your expertise will be crucial in creating innovative solutions and in providing essential support for OIPT software to clients and our OIPT team, including Process, Service, and Test Engineers, across international projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and Maintain Software: Use a variety of tools and languages to create and maintain software, firmware, and databases.
- Project Management: Ensure timely delivery of software projects that meet objectives and timescales.
- Hands-On Problem Solving: Assist with machine issues during build and test phases.
- Global Support: Provide second-line support for our worldwide network of field service engineers.
- Customer Interaction: Engage with our global customer base to understand their needs and support new software implementations.
- Sales Support: Contribute to the sales process by answering technical questions and providing solutions.

- Degree level qualification in computing or related field with a proven track record.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Software Development.
- C# .NET Core and WPF framework.
- C and C++ expertise for low-level and real-time development.
Desirable
- Experience with several network protocols, TCP/IP, UDP, Modbus, etc.
- Experience with PLCs and ladder logic.
- Agile/Scrum Methodologies.
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Experience in writing PowerShell scripts.
- Exposure to and knowledge of machine learning and other forms of AI.
Professional Skills/Abilities
- Strong communication and client-facing skills, capable of articulating complex topics to multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Self-motivated and capable of independently driving technical investigations and finding solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of Windows software is essential, as is experience working on real-time control systems.
- Knowledge of hardware interfacing is desirable.
- Computer literacy, including effective use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
