Job summary

Unity seeks a Software Engineer to join the Linux Platform Systems team, building core Linux platform support for SteamOS and cloud partnerships. You’ll work on low‑level engine systems, maintaining Linux targets and collaborating across Unity’s platform groups.

Key requirements include strong C++ skills, Linux desktop experience, debugging and profiling, with exposure to Unity/C# and automated testing. Equity and performance bonuses may apply.

Software Engineer, Linux Platform Systems Unity is the world’s leading game engine, supported by the most successful game development community in history. Our platform teams build the technology that enables our industry-leading multiplatform support and allows our users to create once and ship anywhere. We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our platform systems team who will help build and maintain our core Linux platform support. You’ll work on a broad range of low-level engine systems, developing and maintaining the tech that underpins our Linux targets, including SteamOS and exciting new partnerships leveraging Cloud technology. You’ll be part of an agile team collaborating with other groups across Unity. While this role focuses on Linux, there will be opportunities to contribute to other platforms that Unity supports and develop your skills and knowledge in new areas. With your help Unity’s platform support will continue to grow and enable developers to reach even bigger audiences!

What you’ll be doing

• Developing & maintaining our core Linux platform support
• Ensuring stability by investigating and resolving bug reports

What we’re looking for

Base Salary Range: We determine the base salary range for this role based on your primary work location: Zone A: £42,900 - £64,300 GBP gross This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate’s relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
