About the Role

Software Engineer - Birmingham

Location: Birmingham - Hybrid

Salary: up to £60,000 per annum

We are seeking a Software Engineer for a leading client based in the West Midlands. The role involves developing back-end technology solutions, collaborating with stakeholders, product management, and engineering teams. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality, secure, and compliant software products, with a focus on user experience.

Key Skills and Responsibilities

• Develop and support existing products by troubleshooting and resolving issues.
• Work within traditional waterfall or agile development methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of server-side technologies such as ColdFusion, PHP, Java.
• Proficiency in HTML and CSS.
• Experience with version control systems like Git and Subversion.
• Working knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL and Microsoft SQL.
• Excellent communication skills to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of back-office technologies and their business applications.
• Familiarity with agile tools like Jira, Confluence, Slack, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Trello.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with front-end JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, React, Vue, Angular.
• Proficiency with server-side frameworks like Laravel and ColdBox.
• Hands-on experience with Linux distributions including RedHat, CentOS, Debian.
• Knowledge of CSS frameworks like Bootstrap, Tailwind, Foundation.
• Experience developing web services including SOAP, APIs, RESTful JSON.
