QinetiQ Group plc in Malvern is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer or Software Engineer to join the OpTech team. You will work on cutting-edge solutions to protect sovereign states, collaborating on complex problems with a multidisciplinary team on-site.

We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds who can demonstrate the required experience and a willingness to learn. The role is 37 hours per week at Malvern, with eDV clearance required.

Qualifications

• Experience in embedded software development.
• Strong programming skills across C/C++ and modern languages.
• Familiarity with unit testing and CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible to the Project Design Authority for software development and related software engineering activities.
• Solve technically challenging problems from rapid developments to full scale system developments.
• Apply rigorous engineering practices: analysing, designing, implementing, testing, supporting and maintaining solutions.
• Innovate in the integration of digital hardware technologies to build embedded systems.
• Decompose system into backlog of deliverable User Stories.
• Communicate with stakeholders and customers at all levels, work independently and in teams.
• Develop software across languages including C, C++, Python, Java, or C#.
• Develop and integrate software systems on bare metal and OSS/Commercial OSes.
• Experience with embedded platforms and unit testing & CI/CD tools.
• Work with Linux and Windows environments; use configuration and change management processes.
• Engage in multithreading development and debugging.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Being responsible to the Project Design Authority for software development and related software engineering activities
• Solving technically challenging problems from rapid developments to full scale system developments
• Applying rigorous engineering practices such as; analysing, designing, implementing, testing, supporting and maintaining solutions
• The innovation in the application and integration of digital hardware technologies to build novel embedded systems
• Realising a system into functional components and then decomposing into a backlog of deliverable User Stories
• Communicating ideas with multiple stakeholders and customers at all levels
  The ability to operate both independently and collaboratively as part of a closely coupled team
• Extensive software development experience in a range of programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Java or C#
• The ability to develop and integrate software systems using both bare metal and Open Source/Commercial Operating systems
• Knowledge and implementation of complex software solutions
• Previous experience developing for embedded platforms
• Prior experience with Unit Testing & CI/CD tools
• Experience being comfortable using both Linux and Windows operating systems
• The ability to work in rigorous engineering environment using configuration management and change management processes and tools
• Multithreading development and debugging experience

As an Embedded Software Engineer or Software Engineer you will join the OpTech team in Intelligence Security Solutions providing cutting edge solutions to protect Sovereign states from ever changing and increasingly more sophisticated threats.
