Job summary

QinetiQ Group plc is seeking a Cloud Engineer to enable secure, scalable cloud capabilities across public, private, or hybrid environments. You will design, deploy and automate solutions with AWS, IaC, and CI/CD, while collaborating with engineering and security teams to ensure secure deployments.

The role emphasizes building cloud services, monitoring performance and costs, and applying security and networking best practices to support mission-critical operations across Malvern or Farnborough

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience designing, deploying and managing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proficiency with IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or ARM templates.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and related tooling.
• Familiarity with cloud security best practices and networking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Build and configure cloud services to meet business and application requirements.
• Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, cost optimisation and security compliance.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation or ARM templates.
• Automate deployment pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
• Enforce cloud security best practices including IAM, encryption and network security.
• Collaborate with development, operations and security teams to enable smooth deployments.

Job description

As a Cloud Engineer, you'll be a forefront of enabling secure, scalable and mission‑critical cloud capabilities within our Cloud Engineering team providing critical support across public, private or hybrid environments. Day‑to‑day, you'll work collaboratively with engineering teams to design, deploy, and automate solutions that help deliver next‑generation services across complex operational environments. Your responsibilities will include:

• Building and configuring cloud services to meet business and application requirements
• Monitoring cloud environments for performance, availability, cost optimisation, and security compliance
• Developing and maintaining infrastructure as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates
• Automating deployment pipelines and CI/CD workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
• Implementing and enforcing cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption and network security
• Working closely with development, operations, and security teams to enable smooth application deployments
• Previous experience in designing, deploying, and managing solutions in AWS
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform
• Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools
• Familiarity with networking concepts (DNS, VPN, load balancers, firewalls, routing)
• Strong familiarity with AWS services

Essential qualifications for the Cloud Engineer

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
