Experience in the travel or retail industry is advantageous but not essential.

As a Datalex software development team lead, you will manage a geographically distributed team of skilled engineers. You will serve as both a people manager and a technical leader, acting as the key contact for software project teams. You will utilize strong communication skills to lead and facilitate effective problem-solving discussions with key stakeholders. You will also be hands-on with estimating features, planning, coding, debugging, designing, testing, and ensuring performance of team deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate, document, design, implement, and test large features, taking ownership of their delivery.
  • Participate in technical and business discussions internally and externally.
  • Understand the business drivers behind each feature.
  • Ensure your team delivers high-quality products and platform functionality on time and within budget.
  • Mentor, motivate, and train developers within your team, both locally and remotely.
  • Manage the translation of requirements into design and take ownership of documentation for project deliveries.
  • Challenge the status quo by contributing to and leading initiatives to improve the software development process. Think BIG!
Minimum Requirements
  • 5+ years of software industry experience with proficiency in Java and Web Services.
  • 2+ years managing a Software Engineering team, ideally within a fast-paced, product-based company.
  • Solid experience in designing and developing highly available, distributed, and scalable applications.
Additional advantageous experience
  • Understanding of Agile principles and experience leading Scrum/Kanban teams.
  • Web service technologies: REST, SOAP.
  • Development tools: GIT, Gradle, Ant, Jenkins, Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Communication tools: Slack, Microsoft Teams.
  • Databases: Oracle or MongoDB.
  • Distributed technologies: Spring, J2EE, Memcached.
  • Test automation frameworks: BDD, TestNG.
  • Practical experience with DevOps concepts: CI/CD, ChatOps.
  • Scripting skills for sysadmin, deployments, and API interactions are a plus.
  • Familiarity with source control tools such as GIT.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in English communication; additional languages are a benefit.
  • Experience designing and managing applications supporting high availability, zero downtime upgrades, auto-scaling, distributed architecture, metrics-driven decisions, serverless operations, and containerization.
