Job summary

Computacenter is offering a 13‑month industrial placement for an undergraduate in Software Development based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. You will contribute to the Solution Center, create showcases, prototype ideas, and help bring innovative software solutions to life for customers.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across technologies such as Azure, NodeJS, Python, and cloud tools while working in a fast-paced, collaborative team. European travel potential is a possibility during the placement.

Qualifications

• Be an undergraduate in your 2nd year (Computer Science focussed).
• Willing to work with multiple development platforms and cloud technologies (Azure/AWS/Terraform).
• Demonstrate a self-starter attitude with strong work ethic and independence.

Responsibilities

• Create showcases to illustrate global strategic investments.

We have an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate to join our dynamic Solution Center team as a Software Developer and Programmer. The Solution Center team is responsible for showcasing our offerings and driving innovation in the business.

The market has become more software-driven and therefore we are offering this opportunity to talented undergraduates with a passion for coding who can bring our solutions to life. This is a 13 month Placement opportunity based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire with a potential for Europe-wide travel.

What you’ll do

As part of the 13-month industrial placement programme as a software developer, you will have the opportunity to:

• Create showcases to bring to life our global strategic investments.
• Assist in ideation sessions with live prototyping.
• Be responsible for creating demonstrations and Proof of Concepts.
• Provide innovation consultancy across the business and for our customers.
• Have hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment which will provide an opportunity to learn and work on innovative solutions for our customers.
• Research and suggest new innovative technologies and methods to solve our project requirements.

What you’ll need

As well as a strong interest in IT and software you need to:

• Be studying at undergraduate level in your 2nd year of university for a Computer Science focussed degree.
• Demonstrate a willingness to work with any development platform, including Microsoft suite (eg Azure, Power products), backend development (e.g. NodeJS), automation/scripting (eg Python), web development, and Cloud technologies (Azure/AWS/Terraform).
• Have the ability and drive to pick up new languages or techniques as needed.
• Display confidence in bringing own ideas into any task and being a self-starter.
• Show a strong work ethic in a dynamic customer-facing environment.
• Work autonomously and independently where required.
