Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment in the United Kingdom is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead high‑impact teams within the PlayStation SDK Developer department, focusing on people leadership and operational excellence rather than hands‑on coding.

You will support and develop team members from graduate to staff software engineer, set goals, mentor across time zones, and collaborate with other groups to drive delivery, hiring, onboarding and succession planning.

Qualifications

3–5+ years of experience managing software teams.
Proven success in people management and mentorship.
Experience leading multiple Agile teams.
Strong verbal and written communication to senior stakeholders.
Knowledge of software engineering practices, testing, and automation (e.g., Jenkins).
Understanding of SDLC and reducing technical debt.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers across time zones.
Define development and career path opportunities and mentor team members to achieve goals.
Collaborate with other groups across different time zones to coordinate efforts.
Monitor performance and deliver regular appraisals with the team.
Manage capacity planning, hiring, onboarding and ensure effective succession planning.
Identify challenges, remove obstacles, and clarify tasks in ambiguous situations.
