Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Software Engineering Manager in Greater London to lead a team of mid‑ to senior‑level engineers in Applied Research Engineering. You will translate objectives into clear engineering priorities and foster an environment where engineers perform, grow, and deliver high-quality outcomes.

The role is hands-on with a strong emphasis on leadership, team effectiveness, and delivery health, while maintaining technical engagement to support sound engineering

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of engineering management or equivalent leadership experience.
• Strong background in software engineering with ability to guide teams.
• Hands-on development experience in C++, C#, Python or similar.
• Experience delivering production-quality software through the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of mid-level to senior engineers with regular 1:1s.
• Stay close to technical work to support engineering decisions.
• Enable predictable delivery by clarifying scope and addressing blockers early.
• Translate objectives into practical team plans with technical leads and the TPM.
• Represent engineering judgement in planning discussions with leads and TPM.
• Provide day-to-day leadership for engineering teams and initiatives.
• Build inclusive, high-trust culture focused on collaboration and technical excellence.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships across teams and locations.
• Support hiring and onboarding to grow the team sustainably.
