Job description

Software Development Manager, AWS OpenSearch Service, AWS OpenSearch Core

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to new product innovations that set AWS’s services apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers requiring specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Are you interested in leading a team to build a world-class log analytics and search platform? Do you want to revolutionize how people manage and derive insights from vast data volumes in the cloud? Do you want to have a direct impact on a large number of AWS users? Do you want to be part of a fast-growing AWS service in a startup-style environment?

At AWS, you’ll experience the benefits of working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment, leveraging Amazon.com’s resources. The AWS OpenSearch Core team is part of the rapidly growing AWS Database and Analytics group.

AWS OpenSearch Core simplifies deploying, operating, and scaling OpenSearch for log analytics, application monitoring, full-text search, and more. Our team designs, develops, and operates software that enables customers to index, search, and analyze documents at scale securely and reliably. We are tackling challenging data, search, and analytics problems. As we expand, we seek an experienced leader to define and deliver industry-leading, next-generation search and log-analytics services architected for the cloud.

Joining the team offers opportunities to:

  1. Work on a disruptive product in its early stages.
  2. Utilize new technologies, integrating research ideas into OpenSearch core.
  3. Solve challenging problems in cloud log analytics.
  4. Leverage cloud resources for scalable products.
  5. Contribute to a recognized leader in cloud computing.
  6. Learn from experienced experts and managers.
  7. Be part of an inclusive, high-performing team with a fun atmosphere.

As an Engineering Manager, you will:

  1. Lead a team rethinking traditional log analytics and data processing architectures in the cloud.
  2. Innovate solutions at the intersection of Open Source Initiatives, Search & Log Analytics, Managed Service Resiliency, Query optimizations, etc.
  3. Contribute to the vision, goals, and technical strategy aligned with customer needs and market trends.
  4. Mentor engineers and provide leadership on complex technical issues, design trade-offs, and prioritization.
  5. Manage daily team activities within an agile environment.
  6. Hire and develop top-tier engineers to grow the team.
  7. Oversee both development and operations of our products.

If you are a highly technical manager interested in multiple fields—Open Source, Search & Log Analytics, Resiliency, Query optimization—join us!
