Job summary

Athos Commerce in London is seeking a QA engineer to build AI-assisted quality workflows and automated testing across UI, API, and data layers. You will work with the Head of QA and engineering teams to strengthen test automation, integrate quality gates into CI/CD, and diagnose production issues.

You will migrate an existing C# Selenium framework to Playwright with TypeScript, enhance observability, and contribute to test strategy.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software testing with automation.
• Strong C#/.NET production-quality automation code.
• Experience extending or building test frameworks; building from scratch is a plus.
• Hands-on CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps; diagnosing failed pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills to query databases and validate data.
• Troubleshoot beyond the UI using APIs, logs, databases, and telemetry.
• Knowledge of AI tools in software testing and validation.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will help build the systems, automation, and quality practices that enable Athos engineering teams to ship software quickly and confidently. You will work closely with the Head of QA and engineering teams to develop AI-assisted quality workflows, strengthen test automation, improve CI/CD quality gates, and make production failures easier to identify and diagnose. You will work hands-on across C#, TypeScript, APIs, data, pipelines, and observability rather than focusing solely on UI testing. Your work will help Athos reduce manual checking, catch failures earlier, and create stronger evidence behind every release.

How You Will Succeed

• Build AI-assisted quality workflows that help engineers generate, maintain, and triage test assets more efficiently.
• Build and maintain automated testing across UI, API, and data layers.
• Support the migration of the existing C# Selenium automation framework to Playwright with TypeScript.
• Integrate reliable automated test execution and quality gates into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Investigate failures across application logs, APIs, databases, telemetry, test environments, and production systems.
• Improve observability and production quality through monitoring, alerting, and better visibility into feed and syndication failures.
• Contribute to test strategy, including determining what should be tested, at which layer, and where automation provides the greatest value.
• Support release and pre-release quality by identifying what has been verified and communicating residual risk.
• Review pull requests and contribute hands-on code that improves quality tooling and automation.
• Share knowledge and help make effective quality engineering practices easy for other engineers to adopt.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of software testing experience spanning both hands-on testing and test automation.
• Strong C#/.NET experience with the ability to independently write and maintain production-quality automation code.
• Experience working within and extending test automation frameworks; experience building a framework from scratch is a plus.
• Hands-on CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps or a comparable platform, including diagnosing failed pipeline runs.
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to independently query databases and validate application data.
• Experience troubleshooting beyond the UI using APIs, application logs, databases, and other technical signals.
• Strong understanding of test design, including negative testing, boundary conditions, invalid data, partial failures, and other non-happy-path scenarios.
• Meaningful experience using AI tools in software engineering or quality workflows, with the ability to evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs.
• Clear written and verbal English communication skills.
• Existing right to work in the UK and ability to travel to Athos' Victoria, London office approximately once per month. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
