Job summary

OneView Commerce is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to design and automate testing for our platform features. Reporting to the Head of Quality Engineering, you will own test strategy and the automated coverage across API and UI layers within existing frameworks.

You will work in a remote-first team, with AI tooling integrated into day-to-day work, ensuring tests are reliable and run in CI/CD with clear defect reporting and release readiness.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in software QA with automated tests.

Position Summary

OneView is looking for a Senior QA Engineer to design and automate the testing for our

platform features. Reporting to the Head of Quality Engineering, you will work inside a deliveryteam, shaping quality from the moment a story is refined through to production. You will workto an established test strategy, and you will own the design and the code inside it. You writetests in a framework the Senior Test Automation Engineer owns; you decide what to test andwhen the coverage is good enough.

Automation is the default here. You will build and maintain automated coverage at API and

interface level within our existing frameworks, and reach for manual testing where it genuinelyearns its place rather than out of habit. When a test fails you are expected to work out why:whether the product broke, the test is wrong, or the environment lied, and then say so in adefect report the engineer can act on without coming back to you.

You will be in refinement and design reviews while the decisions are still being made. That

means reading acceptance criteria critically, saying when one cannot be tested as written, andgetting it fixed before the code exists. It also means reporting honestly on what is covered,what is not, and what risk is left, so that a release decision is made with real information.

You will have someone above you who sets the standard and reviews your work. You will alsohave colleagues earlier in their careers who will learn by watching how you work. We use AIthroughout our day-to-day work and expect you to find uses for it we have not thought of. Wealso expect you to be able to do this job well if it were switched off tomorrow, because thecreativity, judgement, and relationships that make the work good are yours rather than thetool's.

Responsibilities

• Design the test cases, scenarios, and scripts for your feature area, working to the criteria and standards the quality engineering team has set.
• Build and maintain automated tests at API and interface level inside our existing frameworks, and extend that coverage as the product grows.
• Keep the regression coverage for your area current as the product changes, working inside the suite the Senior Test Automation Engineer owns.
• Take part in refinement, design, and specification reviews. Challenge an acceptance criterion that cannot be tested and get it corrected before development starts.
• Run your tests in the pipeline and read what comes back: reports, traces, and logs.
• Diagnose a failure to its cause and establish whether it is the product, the test, or the environment before raising it.
• Raise defects that an engineer can act on immediately, and see them through triage, fix, and re-test.
• Manage the test data and environment conditions your tests depend on, so the same test gives the same answer every time it runs.
• Carry out exploratory testing around your area to find what the scripted coverage misses, and record what you covered.
• Contribute to non-functional testing on your area: performance, accessibility, security, and resilience.
• Report on what is covered, what is not, how defects are trending, and what risk is left, clearly enough that someone can make a release decision from it.
• Support QA engineers earlier in their careers, by example and by review, and by helping them solve a problem rather than solving it for them.

Required skills & Experience

• 4+ years in software QA, including at least two writing and maintaining automated tests.
• Fluent in formal test design techniques such as equivalence partitioning, boundary analysis, state transition, and decision tables, and knows which one a given problem calls for. Understands what belongs at each level of the test pyramid, and why a suite that leans on end-to-end tests decays.
• Has built and maintained automated tests in a framework such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium, written so they stay reliable as the product changes rather than needing constant repair. Used to working in a shared repository, with test code branched, reviewed, and merged like any other code.
• Has hunted a flaky test to its cause and fixed it. Can describe a specific one, why it was flaky, and what made it deterministic.
• Experienced at API and service level with tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or an equivalent, including deriving test cases from an interface specification and stubbing or mocking a dependency they do not control.
• Reads application code well enough to see what a test actually covers, and to work out where a bug is likely to be.
• Comfortable diagnosing a CI/CD failure to its source, using logs, traces, and dashboards in tooling such as Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, or an equivalent, and turning that into a defect report that is specific, reproducible, and actionable.
• Has owned the test data and environment setup a suite depends on, and knows what makes a run repeatable rather than lucky.
• Has run performance, accessibility, and security tests with guidance from someone more senior, and can explain what the results meant.
• Has pushed back on an acceptance criterion that could not be tested as written, and got it changed before development started.
• Has tested for data and transaction integrity: arithmetic and rounding, idempotency, duplicate submission, partial failure, and what the system does when a call succeeds on one side and fails on the other.
• Has tested enterprise software deployed to a major public cloud, inside an agile, Scrum-based SDLC and STLC.

Preferred skills & Experience

• Experience testing software that runs in physical locations, where a device may be offline or intermittently connected and the transaction still has to be correct.
• Automation experience in more than one framework, for example Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or an equivalent, and a view on what transfers.
• Behaviour-driven testing with Cucumber, SpecFlow, or similar, and test management tooling such as Qase, TestRail, Xray, or Zephyr.
• Performance and load testing with tools such as k6, JMeter, Gatling, or Artillery
• Accessibility testing against WCAG with tooling such as axe.
• Has used AI in testing, whether to generate cases, expand coverage, or triage failures, and can say what it improved and what it broke.
• Has helped a less experienced colleague get materially better, and can say what changed for them.
• ISTQB or an equivalent testing qualification, though we care far more about what you have built than about the certificate.
