Software Development Engineer II, WW Returns and ReCommerce

WW R&R is an agile, innovative organization dedicated to ‘making zero happen’ to benefit our customers, our company, and the environment. The mission of WWR&R is to eliminate defects that cause returns (Zero defects), deliver Zero cost of returns for Amazon, and send Zero product waste to landfills — the 3 Zeros. We develop products and drive operational excellence to help customers keep what they buy, recover returned & damaged product value, and create the best customer returns experience in the world.

Our teams manage the lifecycle of returned or damaged products, from customer to warehouse to next best use. We train machine learning models to automate routing, invent new channels for product reuse, develop world-class support, pilot smarter evaluations, and focus on customer delight and business efficiency.

As a member of this team, your mission will be to design, develop, document, and support scalable, distributed real-time systems. Using C++, Java, object-oriented design, distributed databases, and innovative storage techniques, you will build systems that support complex, evolving business needs.

We seek engineers with 2+ years of solid software engineering experience solving complex problems. You will work on key initiatives supporting our growth, solve challenging problems, provide technical leadership, mentor others, and promote engineering excellence.

- 3+ years of professional software development experience
- 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, scaling)
- Experience programming in at least one software language
- 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
