Job description

Software Development Engineer II, Amazon

Are you excited by providing solutions focused on business optimizations? If so, please come and talk to us! We are the GroceryX organization within the Worldwide Grocery Stores Tech (WWGST) organization. Our vision is to create the most-loved online grocery shopping experience that empowers every customer to achieve any grocery mission. We build and enable consistent, convenient, and snappy online grocery shopping experiences that make it easy for customers to find and get their groceries how and where they want to.

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the team. As a developer on this team, you will be responsible for delivering seamless and efficient experiences for Amazon's global grocery business. With a focus on efficiency, scalability, and customer-centric solutions, the Grocery Experience team plays a strategic role in shaping Amazon's global grocery future.

We operate in an agile environment: working closely with users, delivering features frequently, pivoting when needed, and emphasizing test coverage, refactoring, and technical debt reduction. We’re looking for passionate engineers motivated by complex problems that improve our business operations and customer experience. If you have an entrepreneurial spirit, are deeply technical, innovative, and eager to build pioneering solutions, we want to hear from you!

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer on the Grocery Experience team, you will:

  1. Design and implement low-latency, scalable solutions across the tech stack, including frontend (JavaScript, CSS, hybrid frameworks), middle tier (Java, Spring), and backend (non-relational databases and AWS services).
  2. Collaborate with Checkout, Payments, Inventory, and Fulfillment teams to build integrated solutions that enhance grocery operations.
  3. Work with business teams to develop localized features for specific marketplaces.
  4. Continuously improve existing systems, focusing on test coverage, refactoring, and reducing technical debt.
  5. Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to solve operational challenges.
  6. Deliver features with agility in a highly collaborative environment.

If you are excited about solving complex problems, working across diverse teams, and driving operational excellence globally, we’d love to hear from you!

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship)
  • 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, scaling)
  • Experience programming with at least one software language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
