About the SARA Organization

The Shipping and Region Authority (SARA) organization innovates on foundational products that shape the customer shopping journey, from the gateway page through search, discovery, checkout, and fulfillment experiences. SARA’s products influence and frame the shopping customer experience through its four domains: Shipping, Regions, Locations, and Restrictions. Our systems are designed for scale and consistency, offering configurable, flexible, and global solutions that are standardized worldwide but customizable for local regulations. We integrate with multiple cross-technology and functional services to identify customer locations, shipping options, and apply sales and shipping restrictions.

Role Responsibilities

• Scope complex projects and deliver simple, elegant solutions by collecting product and business requirements.
• Drive development schedules from design to release, making trade-offs to optimize time-to-market.
• Communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and outcomes clearly to cross-functional teams.
• Interact with various parts of Amazon to clarify issues and negotiate technical solutions.
• Anticipate bottlenecks and escalate issues to ensure on-time delivery.
• Guide high-level technical design considering potential future fraud challenges.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to conceive, design, and bring innovative products to market.
• Design and build technologies in large distributed environments and lead industry changes.
• Create solutions for predictions on distributed systems at scale.
• Build scalable, fault-tolerant storage, index, and query systems.
• Start with broadly defined problems to design and code solutions.
• Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years in system design or architecture (patterns, reliability, scaling).
• 3+ years supporting Video Games Industry development, release, or live operations.
• Experience programming in at least one software language.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
