Amazon Advertising creates and transforms the connection between retailers/service providers and customers. Our teams strive to reinvent the way advertisers and agencies build brands and drive performance in their advertising. By using Amazon's foundation in e-commerce, we help brands connect with the right customers through creative solutions and formats across screens and devices, and in the physical world.

Amazon Advertising seeks a Software Development Engineer to join the ADSP Guidance engineering team in Edinburgh. We develop recommendation products that enhance our customers' advertising campaign workflows and performance. You will work as a full-time Software Development Engineer at our development centre in Edinburgh, Scotland. Your team will own the business, technology, and operations, giving you responsibility and authority to ensure success. You will be involved in all aspects of the process — from idea generation, business analysis, and technical design to software development across various technologies. Your systems will meet high standards of performance and reliability and operate at massive scale.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced engineer with a proven track record of solving complex and broad business problems with simple, effective solutions. You should apply appropriate technologies, follow software engineering best practices, and build scalable, high-performing solutions. A focus on customer experience, teamwork, communication skills, and motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment are essential. The position offers excellent opportunities to grow both technical and non-technical skills.

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and existing systems, including reliability and scaling
  • Experience in professional software development outside of internships
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics, or natural language processing
