DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Full-stack Software Development Engineer to join the EU Prime Savings or EU Prime Speed tech team.


This is a fixed 12-month contract on-site role based in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Munich, or Luxembourg. Applicants should be located in one of these locations and possess a valid work permit.


Software Development Engineers will be responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and supporting large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications and tools. The role requires the ability to learn quickly and manage overlapping tasks effectively. You will collaborate closely with business partners, UI/UX designers, and fellow SDEs to develop new Amazon Prime customer-facing experiences.


About the teams

The EU Prime Savings team (Prime Xclusive Genie, PXG) focuses on enhancing the "Prime-Value" proposition for EU Amazon Prime members by increasing annual savings through promotional strategies. The team aims to create engaging shopping experiences throughout the year, ensuring Prime members receive exceptional value, fostering loyalty and higher spending.


The EU Prime Speed team works on improving the speed of Prime services, assessing the impact on Prime value, and developing infrastructure with last-mile transportation technology. They also run programs that allow EU customers to experience Prime benefits and encourage membership growth. The goal is to build a super convenient, compelling, and financially rewarding Prime shopping experience that exceeds customer expectations.


Key job responsibilities
  1. Design and build large-scale systems that provide seamless shopping experiences for Amazon Prime customers.
  2. Own the delivery of end-to-end, full-stack solutions.
  3. Make sound engineering decisions and contribute to continuous improvement in software development practices.
  4. Build experimentation frameworks to test new marketing experiences.

A day in the life

An SDE2 in this role is responsible for end-to-end project ownership, developing full-stack solutions, and processing large volumes of data. They work with cross-functional teams, including UI/UX designers and product/marketing managers, to create new customer experiences. They participate in design and code reviews and contribute to enhancing the Amazon Prime shopping experience through both backend and frontend technologies.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in professional software development (non-internship).
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
