Software Development Engineer (12 month contract), EU Prime Savings Tech Hub

Amazon is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Full-stack Software Development Engineer (Temp 12 month contract) to join the EU Prime Savings Tech Hub.

We are open to hire in any EU region - London, Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam, Munich or Luxembourg. Feel free to reach out for any EU place even if location description says Amsterdam.

Software Development Engineers will be responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications and tools. This job requires you to hit the ground running and your ability to learn quickly and work on disparate and overlapping tasks that will define your success. You will be working closely with business partners, UI/UX designers and other SDEs to build new Amazon Prime customer-facing experiences.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Design and build large-scale systems that empower Amazon Prime customers to have a seamless shopping experience.
  2. Own the delivery of end-to-end, full stack solutions.
  3. Make sound engineering decisions and contribute to the continuous software development practices/improvements.
  4. Build experimentation frameworks to drive continuous testing of new marketing experiences.

A day in the life
An SDE2 in this role is responsible for end-to-end project ownership and developing full-stack solutions, ranging from building scalable software to processing large volumes of data to creating big-data platforms for customer-level data analysis. They work with cross-functional teams, including UI/UX designers and product/marketing managers, to build new customer experiences. They contribute to the team's design and code review processes. The role is expected to help accelerate the Amazon Prime shopping customer experience by contributing to both backend and frontend technologies.

About the team
The EU Prime Savings team (informally, Prime Xclusive Genie, PXG) is dedicated to enhancing the "Prime-Value" proposition for EU Amazon Prime members. The mission focuses on increasing annual savings for Prime members through comprehensive promotional strategies. We aim to create more engaging shopping experiences throughout the year, not just during major sales events. The ultimate goal is to ensure Prime members receive exceptional value from their subscription, leading to increased customer loyalty and higher spending levels. This transformation of the Prime shopping experience aims to create a more compelling and financially rewarding membership program that matches or exceeds customer expectations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
