Job summary

TSA Riley is recruiting an experienced Software Developer to join our Manchester-based Digital Technology team. You will contribute to software projects from concept through delivery, support ongoing maintenance, and help shape technical direction while mentoring junior developers.

You will work with C#, React, HTML/CSS, and SQL databases in a collaborative environment, applying modern development practices. Strong communication and initiative are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in C#, React, HTML/CSS and relational databases.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle and design principles.
  • Experience with Git and modern source control workflows.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira/Confluence) and Agile/Scrum.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and effectively communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to internal software projects from concept through delivery.
  • Support external development and ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Prepare project proposals, estimates and supporting documentation.
  • Analyse client requirements and define delivery timelines.
  • Develop and maintain software to support project delivery and maintainability.
  • Guide junior team members and contribute to software architecture discussions.

Due to continued growth of our business, we are currently recruiting an experienced Software Developer to join our Digital Technology team based in Manchester.

About The Role:

The Software Developer works in the Digital Technology team and is responsible for the majority of software development tasks and activities that are undertaken on projects. They take guidance from the senior software developers and managers but can work under their own efforts to deliver large packages of features and outputs. They are also the first point of contact for junior software developers and work to expand their knowledge and understanding of software development techniques and processes.

The Software Developer can understand all aspects of the development lifecycle in some part and can detail how large software solutions are built and linked together. They can also take an idea from concept, to understanding, scoping, and implementation, with guidance from senior team members. They are expected to contribute to project scoping & estimating, storyboards, feature definitions, development/coding activities, bug fixing, source code consistency, deployment, and maintenance. They also perform code reviews of other staff members work and produce technical and user documentation of systems.

About Your Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to internal software development projects from concept through to delivery
  • Support external software development and ongoing maintenance activities
  • Contribute to the production of project proposals and supporting documentation
  • Analyse and estimate client requirements, project scope and delivery timeframes
  • Develop storyboards to support the planning and visualisation of client projects
  • Create project plans and monitor progress against agreed milestones
  • Design, develop and maintain software to support project delivery
  • Maintain and enhance existing software applications
  • Identify, track, troubleshoot and resolve software bugs
  • Research and evaluate new methodologies, technologies and development approaches
  • Manage source control across all projects, ensuring effective version management
  • Produce clear technical documentation and software design specifications
  • Work collaboratively with the wider project team to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Produce digital animations and visual content in line with client requirements
  • Guide and support junior team members in their professional development and learning
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of software architecture and infrastructure
  • Participate in backlog refinement and sprint planning activities
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective solutions
  • Provide regular progress updates and communicate project feedback to clients and stakeholders
About You:
  • Strong knowledge of C# programming and coding principles
  • Familiarity with the React framework
  • Good working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Understanding of software development and design principles
  • Knowledge of software architecture and architectural design principles
  • Experience working with MS SQL and relational databases
  • Understanding of source control and Git
  • Familiarity with Atlassian products and tools
  • Understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Ability to produce clear and effective technical documentation
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
