Job summary

Jacobs in Bristol seeks a skilled front-end engineer to design, build, and maintain end‑to‑end features for a public sector platform. You will deliver accessible, performant interfaces with React/Next.js and contribute to secure backend services within a hybrid UK team.

What you’ll do

Core requirements

Front‑end skills (preferred)

• Strong experience with React and Next.js.
• Excellent HTML, CSS, and modern styling approaches such as Tailwind.
• Experience translating Figma designs and design systems into high‑quality UI.
• Solid understanding of accessibility, usability, and inclusive design.
• Front‑end testing experience (e.g., Jest).

Back‑end skills (preferred)

• Strong experience building services using Node.js, including Express.
• Experience designing secure APIs, authentication, and authorisation.
• Exposure to containerised environments (OpenShift and/or Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana.
• Experience with search services and/or identity solutions is a plus.

Employment details

Full‑time, permanent role based in Bristol, hybrid with 2‑3 days per week onsite. 40‑hour working week. Flexi‑time is available.

Security Vetting

Role is subject to UK Security Vetting at SC level. Applicants must undergo the required clearance process if not already cleared.
