A leading educational institution in Birmingham is seeking a Technical Leader to manage project delivery within the Design Factory. The role involves mentoring students, contributing to technical infrastructure, and liaising with external stakeholders. Ideal candidates should have relevant industrial expertise. The position offers a competitive salary range from £38,784 to £46,049 per annum, depending on experience.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Design Factory, which provides opportunities for students to work on real-world projects using industrially relevant technology platforms. It also supports Aston University academics to achieve transformational impact by providing a technology resource that bridges the gap between academic research and real-world stakeholders.
You will provide technical leadership to scope, manage, and deliver projects. You will support project teams (student placements and interns) in terms of technical mentoring and ensuring the team works effectively and delivers high-quality projects on time, and meets the expectations of the sponsor. Where appropriate, you will contribute to planning and managing the technical infrastructure of the digital lab and, in support of the lab director, liaise with external stakeholders as required. The post holder is expected to have industrially relevant technical expertise and can act as a mentor to students when preparing for employability, for example, job applications, technical interviews and giving technical talks. You may be asked to give occasional lectures and workshops to Computer Science students on industrially relevant technologies.
