Role: Software Developer – Data Services (KDB+/Q)

The Data Development group manages the lifecycle of data used by investment teams for trading, backtesting, and research. We work with quants and tech teams to integrate, process, and serve data from vendors and public sources within Squarepoint's data infrastructure (alpha data and cross-asset referential data).

We are seeking new data developers to join our growing teams. You will be part of a learning culture that encourages teamwork and collaboration, rewards excellence, and values diversity of thought and creative solutions.

Reference Data Services teams work closely with portfolio managers to design, implement, test, and maintain Squarepoint's service-oriented database architecture for research and production. They primarily work in kdb+ and own Squarepoint's core data model, normalizing datasets to this model and exposing it through a robust, scalable infrastructure with uptime greater than 99.999% during trading hours. The role involves operational responsibilities, including Level 2+ support during live trading.

Position Overview:

1. Acquire a deep understanding of the data requirements of investment research teams to deliver suitable solutions.
2. Design, implement, test, optimize, and troubleshoot kdb+/q data pipelines, frameworks, and services.
3. Collaborate with data operations and platform developers to improve our data platform and reduce technical debt.
4. Work with technologists and investment researchers to ensure reference data services meet evolving requirements.
5. Write and review technical documents, including requirements documents, design proposals, and support runbooks.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM subject.
• At least 2 years of development experience with kdb+/q.

Nice to have:

• Over 2 years of experience designing, testing, optimizing, and troubleshooting data-intensive applications.
• Experience analyzing and organizing financial data.
