Led by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, the UK Telecoms Lab (UKTL), announced in October 2022, aims to provide the UK with cutting-edge technology to enhance telecommunications networks, accelerate 5G deployment, and diversify the telecoms sector by attracting new entrants.

Successful candidates will gain unique experience working on groundbreaking cybersecurity and networking technologies on both national and international levels. This role offers exposure to the latest technologies through research and development efforts aimed at securing telecommunications networks, ensuring the UK remains a safe place to live and do business online. Additionally, you'll interact with senior government officials, industry leaders, and academic professionals, helping UKTL leaders coordinate meetings and briefings.
As a trusted national capability, UKTL collaborates with standards bodies such as 3GPP, the National Cyber Security Centre, the UK intelligence community, academia, Ofcom, communication service providers, and telecom equipment vendors.
Note: Successful applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Birmingham, with potential for hybrid working arrangements.
