The Software Certification Engineer will lead the software certification efforts for certification planning as well as regulatory compliance oversight for assigned projects and products for all of Aviation Systems. Our Systems business comprises a wide cross section of aviation products which includes power generation, power distribution, navigation, cockpit displays, computing and networking, ignition systems, sensors, and propellers.

We support civil and military customers worldwide and are leading the way in hybrid-electric aircraft technologies and open platform solutions. In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise to achieve regulatory compliant solutions for products and systems. You'll be a recognized expert within this specialized field, able to develop and execute objectives for self and others, using coaching and mentoring to do so.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Lead programs in determining product certification strategy and certification basis
  2. Lead compliance planning and determination of means of compliance
  3. Support / contribution to creation of cohesive project plans
  4. Review of development artifacts, where applicable
  5. Perform certification audit pre-assessments both of internal projects and external suppliers
  6. Audit project / product artifacts and verification activities to assess compliance with the certification basis
  7. Support to Customer AR / Regulatory Authority audits
  8. Support and collaboration with Integrated Project Teams to resolve audit Findings/Actions/Observations
  9. Support to / participation in industry working groups
  10. Staff development, both within Certification and the wider engineering community, through technical guidance, coaching and mentoring of less experienced engineers
  11. Develop and implement training modules as necessary
  12. Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
Required Qualifications
  1. Vast amount of software development and/or certification experience in a RTCA/DO-178B or C environment
  2. Experience of demonstrating compliance to certification regulations
  3. Engineering degree in Electronic, Computing for Real-Time Systems, Electronics and Software Engineering (but not IT-based degrees) or equivalent knowledge and experience
