Job summary

A leading engineering recruitment firm is seeking a Software & Controls Engineer for a 6-month onsite contract in Hertfordshire. The role involves designing and maintaining PLC and SCADA systems, providing expertise and support for software-related issues in large-scale manufacturing environments. Ideal candidates should have a formal qualification in Electronics/Controls and experience with Omron, Allen-Bradley, and Wonderware systems.

Qualifications

Software & Controls Engineer

Hertfordshire

650 per day, Inside IR35

Onsite role

6 month contract

Role purpose:

Operating as part of the Engineering Support Team and under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Software/Controls Engineer (SCE) is tasked with the design, installation, management, and/or maintenance of equipment and software on PLC and SCADA systems, which are utilized to oversee and regulate the plant systems.

Key accountabilities:

• Offer specialised expertise in PLC systems, with a preference for Omron and Allen-Bradley by.
• Deliver specialised knowledge of SCADA systems, with a preference for Wonderware (Intouch) and Inductive Automation's (Ignition) SCADA solutions by JM.
• Oversee the resolution of software-related breakdowns and provide reactive support for the plant.
• Assist the maintenance team, particularly the E&I Technicians, in addressing Control and Instrumentation breakdowns and challenges within the plant.

Key requirements:

• Possess a formal qualification in Electronics/Controls, such as a Degree, HNC/HND, or an equivalent recognised training.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) including Omron and Allen Bradley, as well as supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), with a preference for experience in Wonderware.
• Have experience in ECI within large-scale manufacturing, chemical facilities, or plants, specifically in a software or controls role.
• Exhibit knowledge in network infrastructure, architecture, and administration.
