ABM UK is a premier provider of facilities services, committed to delivering tailored solutions that meet diverse client needs. We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to oversee operations at London Energy Ltd.

In this role, you will manage a dedicated team of security and cleaning staff, ensuring that all services are delivered to the highest standards while maintaining safety and compliance with regulations. This is a key position that requires strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a focus on client satisfaction.

About the Sites:

The Edmonton EcoPark in North London is a major waste management and energy recovery facility, currently being redeveloped into the UK’s greenest Energy Recovery Facility (ERF). It generates enough low-carbon energy to power approximately 80,000 homes and businesses annually. Also manage around 200,000 tonnes of household recycling each year, with waste segregation supported by additional operational sites in Wembley and Islington, and final sorting at a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in London.

About the Role Environment:

The Contractor Cleaning and Security Manager will be responsible for overseeing janitorial services and security operations across multiple sites across North London: Edmonton EcoPark, Wembley and Islington. This includes leading a team of 30+ staff and ensuring all cleaning and security protocols are effectively delivered in a high-activity, safety-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing and supervising janitorial teams to maintain hygiene standards across all sites

  • Overseeing site security, including implementation and regular review of Assignment Instructions (AIs) and SOPs integrating the client’s emergency procedures and processes.
  • Ensuring controlled site ingress/egress, monitoring for unauthorised access and trespassing
  • Maintaining and operating security infrastructure, such as gates, CCTV, and access control systems.
  • Producing accurate and timely incident reports, and escalating critical events as required
  • Coordinating with site operations, construction teams, and external contractors to maintain safe and secure environments.
  • Manage and supervise the daily operations of security and cleaning staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the site to ensure cleanliness and security are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Provide training and support to staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, addressing any concerns or queries promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare and manage schedules for staff to ensure adequate coverage of services.
  • Assist with budgeting and financial management for the site, ensuring targets are met.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and report any incidents or breaches as necessary.
  • This is a hands-on, operational role requiring strong leadership, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage teams and incidents effectively in a complex, multi-site environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar management role, preferably within the facilities services sector.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance issues.
  • Experience in budgeting and financial management.
  • SIA License preferred.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required.
