Job Description:

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

A vibrant Mixed School in Hounslow seeks a passionate and engaging Sociology Teacher for a part-time, permanent position within our Humanities department. We are looking for an educator who can inspire students to critically analyze social structures, inequalities, and contemporary social issues.

About Our Learning Community: Our school promotes a culture of inclusivity and respect, valuing diverse perspectives and experiences. We encourage students to develop critical thinking, empathy, and a strong understanding of social justice and social change.

About the Role:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging Sociology lessons at A-Level, covering core areas such as social inequality, crime and deviance, education, family, and media.
  • Develop and implement innovative lesson plans that incorporate sociological theories, research methods, and critical analysis of social phenomena, encouraging students to explore different perspectives and engage with current social debates.
  • Assess student progress through essays, presentations, research projects, and debates, providing detailed and constructive feedback to support their academic development in sociology.
  • Organize and facilitate sociological discussions, debates, and potentially guest speakers to enrich students' understanding of social issues.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in Sociology or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching A-Level Sociology, with a good understanding of the curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • A strong understanding of sociological theories, research methods, and the ability to critically analyze social issues.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students in the study of sociology.
  • A passion for sociology and a commitment to fostering social awareness and critical thinking among students.
  • Competitive pro-rata salary (MPS/UPS + Outer London Weighting) commensurate with experience.
  • Opportunities for professional development within a supportive Humanities department.
