Are you a sociology graduate with a passion for child development and early years education? This is a fantastic opportunity to put your skills into practice, supporting young learners as they take their first steps in education.

This primary school is known for its warm, supportive environment and commitment to helping every child thrive. Located in a friendly community in the heart of Newcastle, it offers a nurturing space where young children develop essential early skills and build the confidence they need for a lifetime of learning. Expect a busy, energetic atmosphere where every day brings new challenges and rewards.

What you will be doing:

  • Assisting the teacher in delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities that support early development.
  • Working closely with individual SEND children or small groups, offering targeted support.
  • Using your understanding of psychology to create a positive, nurturing environment where every child feels valued.
  • Helping children develop their communication, social, and fine motor skills through creative play and hands-on activities.
  • Creating a safe, encouraging space where every child feels valued and included.
  • Core hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 16:00

About you:

  • Recent sociology graduate or soon-to-be graduate with a passion for working with young children.
  • Patient, empathetic, and ready to make a difference in the lives of young learners.
  • Great communication skills and a natural ability to connect with children.
  • Willing to get stuck in, learn on the job, and bring energy to every day.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
