Job description

Social Workers - Family Court Advisors for Cafcass in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Gloucestershire, and Bath

Full-time temporary positions on an ongoing basis.

Role Overview

To provide advanced social work-level services to children, families, and courts by assessing and analysing court applications related to child protection and serious welfare issues affecting a child or young person.

To influence parental responsibility to be more child-focused when needed, advise courts and Local Authorities about safeguarding concerns, and support judicial case management throughout the process.

To deliver high-quality early safeguarding and child protection advice, assessments, and analysis to the Court regarding the needs and best interests of children involved in Family Proceedings.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the well-being and safety of the child remains paramount in case involvement.
  2. Handle incidents or risks of significant harm to the child in accordance with Cafcass policies and procedures.
  3. Work directly with or on behalf of children and families to achieve safe and positive outcomes, referring to other services when beneficial.
Minimum Requirements
  • High standard of assessment and case analysis.
  • Knowledge and application of risk assessment tools and models.
  • Ability to assess risk based on available information and make defensible decisions to safeguard children.
  • Ability to gather, record, and analyse complex information, including court applications.
  • High-quality, concise recording and reporting skills.
