Job summary

Sandwell Children's Trust is recruiting Social Workers for the Families First programme. The role is fixed-term until 31 March 2028, 37 hours per week, hybrid working.

They seek confident, reflective professionals to support children and families within a reform pilot and ensure high-quality practice. Requirements include a recognised Social Work qualification, Social Work England registration, ASYE completed and at least 2 years post-qualifying experience in Children & Families, plus knowledge

Qualifications

  • You will need to have a recognised professional Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
  • Have completed your ASYE and have at least 2 years post qualifying experience of working as a social worker in a Children & Families setting.
  • Have a good level of experience of working in a children and families setting;
  • Have a good knowledge of minimum standards and be able to achieve our expectation for promoting change in family life;
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to analyse information and make informed decisions;
  • Good knowledge of child development.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Social Workers to join the Families First - National Reforms Pilot.

The Families First for Children Programme aims to improve how families are supported to enable children to remain safely within their own families and communities, and to ensure children are protected from harm both inside and outside the home.

This is a pilot locality at the forefront of reform, testing and embedding new ways of working under the Family Help model. It is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic, relationship-focused team shaping the future of practice across the system.

We are looking for confident and reflective Social Workers who are passionate about high-quality practice and keen to contribute to a test-and-learn environment. The team has strong morale, supportive oversight, and a genuine commitment to innovation and improvement.

About you:
