Norfolk County Council is seeking a YJS Social Worker for a fixed-term contract. The role focuses on case management within the Youth Justice Service, requiring strong assessment skills and a professional qualification in Social Work. Norfolk Youth Justice Service (YJS) is a statutory multi-agency partnership hosted within Norfolk County Council, aimed at preventing children and young people from offending while safeguarding their welfare, protecting the public, and helping restore the damage caused to victims of their crimes.
As a YJS Social Worker, your primary role will involve case management in accordance with the Youth Justice Board Case Management Guidance (2022). Responsibilities include engagement, assessment, planning, delivering interventions, public protection, and managing safeguarding concerns.

You will assess children, young people, and their families using YJB-approved assessment tools to identify risks, needs, and strengths, informing statutory and voluntary interventions.
Working within a multi-agency framework, you will promote and coordinate access to universal and specialist services, producing reports for courts, referral panels, and child protection conferences.
The role requires flexible working, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, with a rota to cover court and statutory contacts.
Applicants should have a professional qualification in Social Work, relevant experience in designing interventions to change behaviors, understanding of criminal justice and childcare legislation, and experience managing a caseload of children with emotional, behavioral, or offending concerns.
