An exciting job role has recently become available at the Wrexham County Borough Council. They are looking for a new member for their Leave Care Team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Mentor best practice and other Social Workers within the team
  • Trauma-informed approaches will be at the heart of your practice
  • Work with a passionate and skilled workforce enabling care leavers to progress well and benefit from positive experiences
  • Focus on effective transition for young people between the ages of 15 and 18 with support to develop confidence and life skills to navigate the opportunities and challenges of adulthood
  • Ensure accommodation needs are carefully considered so young people feel secure and their wishes around location are respected
  • Access to in-house step-down provisions for care leavers with the aim of developing more provisions
  • Focus on education, employment, and training designed to help young people of all abilities choose the appropriate route for their future
  • Provide a quality social work service that supports children to achieve their potential and positive transitions to adulthood
  • Effectively manage a number of young people to achieve the best outcomes
  • Model best practice and mentor others
  • Demonstrate a commitment to corporate parenting
  • Work in partnership with children and young people to build and sustain relationships, identify needs, and develop plans that meet those needs.

What we are looking for in a Social Worker:

  • Social Work England registration
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Post-qualified experience
  • Degree level or equivalent in Social Work
