We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Social Worker to join us in delivering community mental health care within the Welwyn, Hatfield area of Hertfordshire.

The area is well connected with transport links to historic Hertfordshire, its countryside, London, and beyond. We are looking for a passionate Social Worker dedicated to providing care to adults with mental health issues.

This role attracts a Golden Hello of £3,500, applicable to new employees—terms and conditions apply.

Main duties of the job

As a Social Worker in an Adult Community Mental Health Service (ACMHS), you will provide clinical expertise and leadership; participate in referral and allocation processes; safeguard vulnerable children and adults; contribute to case discussions and service meetings; manage a caseload; and offer direct support and advice to Service Users (adults of all ages) and carers, within the recovery framework, respecting individual rights to choice and control.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  1. Champion social care with a comprehensive understanding of legislation and statutory requirements.
  2. Lead in promoting adult safeguarding practices, undertake safeguarding inquiries, and contribute to care plans that protect adults and children.
  3. Conduct comprehensive assessments and reviews for individuals presenting with high risks or complex needs, ensuring appropriate evaluation against social care eligibility criteria as per The Care Act 2014.
  4. Provide direct support and advice to service users, carers, and colleagues, ensuring those not meeting social care eligibility are properly signposted.
  5. Ensure appropriate health and social care services are commissioned, including the provision of direct payments and charging processes where applicable.
