Job Description:

Role Responsibilities

We are recruiting Social Workers with a range of skills and experience.

These full-time permanent roles are available in our Sandwich or Dover Community Teams. We operate in a hybrid model of office-based and remote working to meet service needs.

£3000 Golden Hello payment to all new joiners (subject to criteria) and service-related payments following continuous service.

About Us

This is an exciting opportunity to join our community teams across Kent, focusing on locality working and putting individuals and good practice at the core of our work.

We work with adults with various care and support needs, focusing on person-centered support. Responsibilities include Care Act Assessments, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) Assessments, Court of Protection applications, and s42 safeguarding enquiries.

Our interventions are based on excellent practice, innovation, and meaningful measures, emphasizing relationship-building with individuals, families, and carers. We engage communities early to empower individuals to access trusted local support.

About You

We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified Social Workers, capable of practicing according to current standards, legislation, and policies.

You should have strong literacy and communication skills, both verbal and written.

We seek positive, forward-thinking candidates who use strengths-based approaches aligned with individuals' outcomes and goals. Our teams are imaginative, locally focused, flexible, and collaborative.

This role requires holding a Full UK Driving Licence. The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments; applications from those unable to drive due to disability will still be considered.

Support and Benefits

We offer an attractive benefits package, flexible working opportunities, market premium payments (subject to eligibility), generous annual leave, and a local government pension scheme.

Opportunities for professional development include access to our social care academy, progression routes, and our practice framework. We support skill development in areas like Approved Mental Health Professional Training, Best Interest Assessor Training, and Practice Educator training.

Regular supervision, reflective practice, and career development support are provided.

We are moving towards an 8 am to 8 pm, 7-day service to better meet community needs.

This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service and registration with Social Work England.

This is a customer-facing role, and the Council requires candidates to demonstrate sufficient spoken English/Welsh proficiency as per statutory duties.

We also welcome applications from registered nurses and occupational therapists with relevant experience. For more information, please contact Angela Illing at 03000 410813, Kat Brown at 03000 412484, or Hayley Brind at 03000 413195.
