Job description

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team within the Safeguarding Department in Cambridge. This role provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable children and families while working within a dynamic and supportive team. The position offers flexible working hours, allowing for an optimal work-life balance, and is based in the historic and vibrant city of Cambridge.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide professional leadership and specialist social work expertise, making independent decisions in complex cases.
  2. Undertake comprehensive assessments to identify needs and risks, ensuring interventions are outcome-focused and aligned with SMART planning.
  3. Build and maintain effective relationships with children and families, ensuring their voices are heard and influencing decisions to improve their outcomes.
  4. Ensure statutory compliance with legislation, including the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and other safeguarding frameworks.
  5. Prepare and present clear, analytical, and evidence-based reports for various forums, including court proceedings.
  6. Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health, education, and police services, to develop holistic intervention plans.
  7. Stay informed about social policy developments and maintain professional registration with Social Work England.
Minimum Requirements
  1. Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).
  2. Registration with Social Work England.
  3. Experience working within a MASH, Child Protection, or Safeguarding setting.
  4. Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, and best practices.
  5. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.
  6. Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to produce high-quality written reports.
