Job Description:

To maintain registration with the HCPC and undertake statutory and other tasks related to the responsibilities of the service group, in accordance with relevant legislation and the Children’s Social Worker Framework.

To deliver services in accordance with statutory responsibilities set out in the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation.

To assess children’s needs in line with Directorate policies and procedures, working with children, families, carers, and other professionals in a timely manner.

To develop and review assessments of children’s needs, creating effective plans.

To promote and safeguard the welfare of children.

To apply specific intervention methods as appropriate.

To support, inform, and advise families to promote parental self-reliance.

To prepare reports for courts and meetings, and to present to professionals; attendance at legal proceedings may be required.

To maintain accurate records on the core computer system and ensure records are available for statistical or inspection purposes.

To participate in team meetings and other relevant meetings as required.

To operate within financial and budgetary guidelines.

To engage in supervision and appraisal, demonstrating ongoing professional development according to the Children’s Social Work Framework.

To undertake necessary training and professional development activities.

To perform any other duties related to the team’s functions as required.

To demonstrate professional practice, skills, and knowledge as outlined in the Children’s Social Worker Framework, at the appropriate level/grade.

Levels include Entry into the Assessed & Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) Social Worker Level 1 – (Grade 9) and progression to End of ASYE / Social Worker Level 2 – (Grade 10).
