Job description

Job Description

To protect and promote the welfare and wellbeing of Children, Adults at Risk and Communities through the exercise of Statutory Powers to address complex issues. This is done through the assessment of need, the formulation and implementation of care plans, in conjunction with other external agencies and partner organisations.

These posts will principally focus on the provision of court-based justice social work services at Kilmarnock Sheriff court and the establishment of a new service in the court. When required to meet the needs of the service, the post holder will also provide other locality justice social work services.

The duties of this post involve accessing ViSOR, the recognised national IT system for the management of people who pose a serious risk of harm to the public. It is Home Office owned and maintained, and the level of vetting required is set by the Home Office. Staff must be vetted to either Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 2 (NPPV 2) or Level 3 (NPPV 3), depending on their role within ViSOR. The successful applicant must be vetted accordingly.

The duties also involve Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful applicants will be required to become a PVG Scheme member or be subject to a PVG Scheme Record Update before employment begins. PVG records are constantly updated, and any relevant information will be discussed with the applicant prior to a formal offer.

We adhere to national pre-employment checks guidance, including Safer Recruitment Through Better Recruitment. Applicants should provide at least two relevant references, one from their current or most recent employer, with the latter being from an appropriate senior manager.

Requirements

The role involves accessing ViSOR, requiring vetting to NPPV 2 or NPPV 3 based on the role. It also involves Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults, requiring PVG Scheme membership or update. All vetting information will be discussed with the applicant prior to employment.

Employment References

Applicants must provide a minimum of two appropriate references, including one from their current or most recent employer, which should be from a senior manager and not a peer at the same level.
