Social Worker
HMP Edinburgh

Salary: £40,501 -£47,639
Hours: 36 per week

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us as Social Workers within the Prison Based Social Work Team at HMP Edinburgh. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to work within professional, dedicated and supportive team, and service.

The prison-based team:
  • Provides a social work service to statutory prisoners by assessing and managing risks at each stage of the individual’s sentence, through the provision of throughcare (TARL/HBR) reports for the Parole Board, and attending Oral Hearings.
  • Works in collaboration with other partners including community-based justice social work and Scottish Prison Service.
  • Provides a Duty social work service that all prisoners can access.
  • Takes part in multi-agency meetings including Risk Management Team (RMTs); Integrated Case Management (ICMs); Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA); and Programme Casework Management Board (PCMB).

You will have relevant experience of justice social work, and an understanding of risk assessment and risk management including use of relevant tools; accreditation in use of LS/CMI and ROSH, RM2000, SA07, SARAv3 would all be desirable.

Candidates will have a Social Work qualification recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and be registered, or eligible to register, with the SSSC.

The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. You will be required to provide this check.
