Job summary

Peterborough City Council is recruiting an experienced Social Worker – Fostering to join the fostering service on a temporary basis. You will support and supervise foster carers, complete assessments and reviews, and collaborate with children’s social care and partner agencies to ensure safe, stable placements.

The role involves managing a caseload, producing Form F assessments, and participating in care reviews to drive positive outcomes for children and young people in foster care.

Qualifications

• Social Work qualification and professional registration.
• Experience in fostering or children’s social care.
• Experience handling Form F assessments.
• Experience supervising and supporting foster carers.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of up to 15 fostering households.
• Complete Form F assessments for prospective foster carers.
• Provide monthly supervision to foster carers.
• Support foster carers with placement-related issues and provide professional advice.
• Attend and contribute to Child Care Reviews and placement planning meetings.
• Complete Foster Carer Annual Reviews.
• Undertake checks, assessments and risk assessments.
• Participate in the placement team duty rota.
• Collaborate with children’s social workers and other professionals to ensure safe placements.
• Develop relationships with education and clinical teams to support positive outcomes.
• Promote safeguarding, stability and positive outcomes for children in foster care.

The Role
