Are you a Band 6 Social Worker looking for a rewarding locum role in Reading? We have an excellent opportunity to join a secure forensic inpatient service, offering strong pay, a structured on-site role, and a supportive team environment with free meals provided.

Key Details:

Job Title: Social Worker - Band 6

Location: Reading area

Duration: 3-month ongoing contract

Schedule: Tuesday to Thursday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Part-time, 3 days per week)

Start Date: June

End Date: TBC

Rate of Pay: £38.00 - £40.00 per hour

A Day in the Life of a Forensic Social Worker:

Join a secure inpatient service and work as part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team supporting forensic patients with complex mental health needs. In this role, you will:

Deliver high-quality social work support to service users detained under the Mental Health Act

Conduct safeguarding assessments and liaise with external safeguarding authorities

Support risk management, care planning, discharge coordination, and family liaison

Work closely with internal professionals including nurses, doctors, and psychologists

Ensure accurate documentation, tribunal reports, and adherence to legal and ethical standards

Enjoy an on-site position with no community travel and free meals provided each day

Requirements & Qualifications:

Current and valid Social Work England registration

Experience working within forensic inpatient services

Strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and safeguarding procedures

MAPA (or equivalent PMVA) training is essential

Confident working independently and collaboratively within secure settings

Working Hours & Contract Duration:

This is a part-time role working 3 days per week : Tuesday to Thursday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The position begins in June and is an ongoing contract with potential for extension based on performance and service needs.
