Job Opportunity: Social Worker – First Response, Duty and Assessment Team (Children’s Social Care)
Location: Time Square, Bracknell

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Social Worker to join our First Response, Duty and Assessment Team within Children’s Social Care. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct needs-led, child-focused assessments, including outcome-focused plans
  • Manage a duty caseload, including single assessments under S17 and S47 investigations, as well as some short-term work
  • Respond to child protection concerns as part of the duty system
  • Prioritise workloads effectively and manage time efficiently
  • Engage in regular reflective supervision, setting clear goals and intervention strategies
  • Monitor and evaluate demand, reporting any resource shortfalls to your supervisor
  • Maintain accurate case records in compliance with departmental policies and GDPR
  • Advocate for children’s voices, ensuring their views are recorded and acted upon appropriately
  • Ensure life journey work is age-appropriate and aligns with the child’s understanding
  • Adhere to ASPIRE priorities: timeliness, smart planning, impactful assessments, reflective supervision, and meaningful engagement with children
  • Ensure access to translation and interpretation services where necessary
  • Contribute to service development by participating in team meetings and promoting integrated, effective services for children
  • Provide cover for team members and take on additional duties based on experience and competencies

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Significant experience in statutory children and families social work
  • In-depth knowledge of legal frameworks and safeguarding duties in relation to children and young people
  • Successful completion of the ASYE programme and relevant post-qualifying training (e.g. ABE, Motivational Interviewing)
  • Extensive experience in child protection and statutory children and families’ social work
