Social Worker - Family Support & Safeguarding Team

We are on the hunt for an innovative Social Worker to join our Family Support & Safeguarding Team in the picturesque city of Cambridge. What you will do:

  1. Provide a high-quality and effective social work service to meet the needs of vulnerable children and their families promptly and in accordance with statutory guidelines.
  2. Use the Family Safeguarding model to build on family strengths, assess needs, plan, and deliver targeted interventions.
  3. Foster meaningful relationships with children and young people to ensure their voices are heard and their experiences are understood.
  4. Collaborate with multi-agency colleagues and partners to ensure comprehensive engagement with children and their families.
  5. Lead and make independent decisions in complex situations where the risk of significant harm is involved.
  6. Conduct thorough assessments to identify and respond to needs and strengths, developing SMART plans that lead to clear outcomes.
  7. Demonstrate strong analytical and observational skills to ensure the child's voice informs all decision-making processes.
  8. Adhere to legislation and statutory guidance, challenging decisions where necessary.
  9. Ensure all safeguarding matters are handled efficiently and in line with child protection procedures, escalating as needed.
  10. Craft clear, analytical, and evidence-based reports and plans for various forums, including court proceedings.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. A recognised professional Social Work qualification (Degree/Masters/Post Graduate Diploma/Social Work fast track qualifying programme).
  2. Current Social Work England registration.
  3. Valid UK driving licence with the ability to travel countywide.
  4. Strong understanding of child development, parenting capacity, and risk factors.
  5. Knowledge of safeguarding laws, guidance, and protocols.
  6. Aware of issues relating to discrimination and equality.
