Description

Cambridgeshire County Council is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and families. We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join our Family Safeguarding Team in Ely. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with children and families in need of support, ensuring they receive the right interventions at the right time. The role involves managing long-term child protection (CP) cases, Public Law Outline (PLO) cases, and court proceedings, making a real difference in children’s lives. We offer hybrid working, allowing flexibility while ensuring team collaboration and effective service delivery.


Responsibilities

  1. Manage a caseload of children subject to child protection plans, care proceedings, and PLO.
  2. Undertake court work, including preparing reports and attending hearings.
  3. Work in partnership with families, professionals, and partner agencies to improve outcomes for children.
  4. Assess risk and need using evidence-based tools and frameworks.
  5. Develop and implement child-centred safeguarding plans.
  6. Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with statutory requirements.
  7. Attend multi-agency meetings and contribute to decision-making processes.

Requirements

  1. Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
  2. Experience in complex child protection work, PLO, and court proceedings.
  3. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
  4. Ability to assess risk, formulate plans, and implement interventions effectively.
  5. Excellent communication, report writing, and partnership-working skills.
  6. Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
