Job Description:

About Us:

The Early Help and Safeguarding hub (EHASH) is the front door for referrals to Children’s Social Care. They work to filter support through early help or up to children’s social care based on what is most appropriate for the child, young person, and their family. EHASH is a multi-agency hub working closely with Police and Health to make informed safeguarding decisions.

Our social workers in EHASH are the first decision makers for contacts coming into social care. They review information, liaise with partners, and offer direction on next steps. They support agencies, work through concerns, signpost to other services, liaise with locality leads, and provide informal advice and consultation.

Our social workers are passionate about meeting families’ needs early and avoiding escalation to specialist services. They are skilled in conversations, coaching, and applying sound thresholds on need and risk.

About You:

We seek someone with experience in EHASH, who is enthusiastic, motivated, and child-focused to join our team.

To thrive in this role, you need a diverse range of expertise, experience, and knowledge. We ask that applicants meet the following:

  • Social work degree or equivalent qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working within safeguarding children.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to make good decisions based on available information and maintain effective professional relationships.
  • Ability to work within and contribute to a team.
  • Knowledge of service needs for minority ethnic groups and communities.
  • Confident IT skills and ability to navigate electronic file systems.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and robust synopses to evidence decision-making.

We are proud, passionate, and pioneering in how we deliver services for children.

Our social workers say Rochdale council is a great place to work, citing supportive managers, accessible training, and positive relationships with children, young people, and families. If you're interested, contact us at [email] for more information.

Additional benefits include:

  • Payment of professional fees
  • Retention payments of £500 every six months after one year of service
  • Hybrid and flexible working options
  • Excellent CPD opportunities after the first year
  • Modern, award-winning office buildings and satellite locations
  • Office-based, non-case holding role working with multi-agency partners

We look forward to meeting you. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and expects staff to share this commitment.

Casual User Car Allowance is payable. Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, including a barred list check for child workforce.
