Job summary

Telford & Wrekin Council invites applications for a Senior Social Worker to join our Duty & Assessment Team in safeguarding vulnerable children. You will lead assessments, guide colleagues, and ensure high-quality social care delivery within the community.

The role requires a social work qualification and Registration with Social Work England, with significant post-qualification experience in duty and assessment.

Responsibilities

Are you a passionate and dedicated Senior Social Worker looking to make a significant impact in the lives of vulnerable individuals and families? Telford & Wrekin Council is seeking an experienced professional to join our Duty & Assessment Team. In this role, you will lead assessments, provide expert guidance, and ensure the delivery of high-quality social care services to those in need within our community. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and families in need, identifying risks and support requirements.
  • Providing supervision and mentoring to junior social workers and support staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Developing and implementing care plans, ensuring they are person-centered and adhere to legal and policy frameworks.
  • Engaging with families, external agencies, and stakeholders to coordinate services and support.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in compliance with local and national standards.
    A relevant social work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in children's services, particularly in duty and assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and safeguarding practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
